I’d make a great guest because my story isn’t just about surviving something difficult—it’s about figuring out how to rebuild a life when the version you had in mind disappears overnight. I was a rising college soccer coach when a rare, flesh-eating infection took both of my hands and parts of my feet. Doctors told me I was lucky to be alive, but honestly, survival felt like the starting line, not the finish. I had to relearn how to do everything—walk, work, coach, and just function day-to-day. There were hospital stays, legal battles, and moments where I wasn’t sure who I was anymore. But there were also the things that pulled me back: the game I loved, the chance to mentor young players again, and eventually the joy of leading a scrappy group of twelve-year-olds to an undefeated state championship. Coaching those kids reminded me that purpose can show up in unexpected places, and that passion doesn’t disappear just because circumstances change. On your podcast, I can talk about resilience in a way that’s real, not cliché; what it actually looks like to rebuild your identity; the role sport can play in healing; disability and adaptability; and how humor and honesty make even the toughest stuff easier to carry. My memoir, Play From Your Heart, dives into all of this, but I love sharing it through conversation even more. If your audience likes stories that are raw, human, sometimes funny, and ultimately hopeful, I think we’d have a great discussion. At the end of the day, my message is simple: even when life knocks you flat, you can still find a way to stand back up—and sometimes that new version of you ends up stronger than the old one.
